What's your return policy?

I offer order cancellation within the first 48 hours of placing the order. Items can be returned for free within 7 business days of the item’s arrival. All items must be in the original packaging to be eligible for return.

If an item is received and it is damaged or does not function as intended (i.e. incense does not burn), please contact me with photos/videos explaining the issue. We can discuss a refund or potentially replacing the item in question.

Please note that items sold for spell craft (candle dressing powders, black salts, etc.) are not eligible for returns based on ‘not functioning as intended’. If your spell does not work, that is not my fault. 

What is in your incense?

I have spent many years hunting down only the best of the best ingredients for my products. All incense is whole-herb (unless otherwise specified). This means that I grind and sift the dried ingredients and roll the cones by hand. I only use natural ingredients without synthetic chemical scents.

If an incense blend is labeled as having ‘liquid scent’, that means it has essential oil in it. I keep EO use to a minimum. I intend to phase it out entirely from my fragrance lines in the future, as I know there are better options out there that I am still learning about. Please use your own discretion when making your purchase! I am very transparent about the ingredients I use and they are all listed in the item description boxes.

Where do you source your herbs from?

All of my herbs are sourced either from local growers in my area (i.e. my garden, friends/family member’s gardens), Frontier Co-Op, or Starwest Botanical. I used to use Mountain Rose Herbs, but have since stopped due to their support of Israel. FREE PALESTINE!!!

I am not a witch, pagan, etc. can I still buy from your shop?

Absolutely! Thee Ninth Keye caters specifically to mystical lifestyles, but everyone needs a bit of magick in their life, regardless of belief system. 

What about cultural appropriation and tools from closed practices?

I will never sell anything that I haven’t personally used within my own practice. I am definitely a modern and ‘eclectic’ practitioner, however the base of my practice is rooted in Graeco-Egyptian practices and traditions. Thee Ninth Keye will not ever sell white sage, palo santo, dream catchers, east Asian spiritual iconography, etc. with the ONLY exception to this rule being if a consignor I am working with comes from that lineage and wishes to sell such handmade items. Here at Thee Ninth Keye, I believe that ideas and beliefs can still be shared and transmitted between cultures while still protecting what is most sacred to those cultures. 

Do you hand make everything?

No way! There’s not enough time in the day to make everything and have it turn out nicely (trust me, I’ve tried). I personally make incense, room fragrance sprays, paintings, and the occasional sculpture, jewelry box, or phylactery/talismanic item.

Thee Ninth Keye offers a mix of handmade and conventional retail items! Part of my ethos is to center human-made art. To do that, I have reached out to local creators in my area who provide small batches of items to consign with Thee Ninth Keye!

The goal is to one day have my shop be 100% handmade, artisanal goods, made by humans using traditional techniques like blacksmithing, ceramics, weaving, and more. It’s more important than ever before that we protect these age old crafts!

That being said, I prioritize transparency with my customers. The ‘conventional retail’ items are bought from wholesalers. Like with the essential oils, I know there are better options out there and I strive to make that a reality! 

Why are your prices so high?

While I feel I’ve made my pricing reasonably accessible, I understand not everyone sees my process! I am happy to explain.

Herbs, especially the more exotic ones that we know and love such as frankincense, dragons blood, and flowers like roses can get REALLY expensive, really quickly. Not to mention that it’s just me (and occasionally my partner) making everything by hand. I keep track of my working time by how many episodes of anime I’ve watched.

Also, I pay extra for sustainable and more eco-friendly packaging—- glass containers, biodegradable labels, and paper instead of plastic.

If you can’t afford to buy my products, I totally understand! Just know that the prices are the way they are for a reason.
